This week I progressed a little bit more on my course project. I was finally able to get a contact on the Orkut site and have been managing some communication to people in Brazil that way through a friend of mine whoe translates the conversations out. The phone technology in Brazil uses the GSM method and you have to buy prepaid SIM cards in Brazil on a totally unlocked phone. Locked phones do not work there. I also found and interesting thing out where you can rent a phone while in Brazil if you were to take a vacation there. I'm not completely sure how that works out yet and I am still trying to find more information on that area of cell phone usage. Sao Paulo's time has changed again so they are only an hour behind us in Indiana so it makes finding times to talk a lot easier. I am going to start working on a powerpoint presentation for my project so that I can map out the information I find and make it easily noticeable.
That is all for now......until next time

In addition to being UNlocked, your GSM phone also has to use the SAME FREQUENCY which is used in Brazil. #cit49900
ReplyDeleteYes, I have noticed this. The frequencies vary per carrier. Some use one frequency while others use the other. #cit49900
