Reflection on this past week

This week has furthered the process on the proposals and the submitting of what we want our semester project to cover. I missed the meeting on Tuesday because of an eye doctor appointment but I was able to make the Thursday meeting. I have made contacts down in Sao Paulo, Brazil as well as joined on their Orkut social networking tool, which is the equivalent to facebook in America. It is a hard site to navigate but hopefully with the help of my friend who speaks Portuguese, I will be able to meet some people and get a 'locals' view of the technology network in Sao Paulo. I have found out the three main cell phone carriers down there and that most of the phones have prepaid minutes to cell phone carriers of the same type. I am still figuring it out but my friend was telling me that she could talk to other people with her same cell phone for one price but if she talks to someone in a different network the prices would greatly increase per minute. I'm not sure how the cell phones world with international calling yet but I can imagine that they would be expensive. I am still in the research stage so more will come in future weeks.
